ISUZU SUPER MILEAGE WINNER CLOCKS OVER 880,000KM

Kuala Lumpur, 18 Sept 2019 – If there was a perfect testimony to Isuzu’s claim of producing durable, reliable and fuel efficient vehicles, Mr Cheah Chee Ying’s 2011 Isuzu D-Max has to be the clearest example. In the nine years of rigorous use, it has clocked some 881,641 kilometers without any sign of needing a major component overhaul.

Mr Cheah 47, and his Isuzu D-Max were discovered via the Isuzu Super Mileage Contest organized by Isuzu Malaysia recently to find the vehicle with the highest mileage in the country. His 3.0-litre Auto was verified as the entry with the highest mileage and earned himself the grand prize of RM15,000.00 during the launch ceremony of the new Isuzu D-Max 1.9 Blue Power in Kuala Lumpur.

Operating a lorry maintenance business that takes him from his base in Kuala Lumpur to locations as distant as Kota Bharu, Kelantan almost weekly was key to his decision to purchase the Isuzu D-Max in the first place. “Being in the business of engine maintenance, I was familiar with Isuzu engines and how strong and tough they were. I used to own an Isuzu Trooper previously so when it came to purchasing a pick-up truck for my work, I knew it had to be an Isuzu D-Max as I wasn’t confident that other trucks would perform so durably,” he said.

“My staff and I usually drive the Isuzu D-Max on maintenance visits to our customers and it is quite common for us to carry parts sometimes as large as a lorry gearbox on our trips. I must say that the Isuzu D-Max performs very well and never feels lacking in power despite the load,” he adds.

Being in the business too, Mr Cheah is highly aware about the importance of regular preventive maintenance. “In all the years that we have driven the Isuzu D-Max, it has never broken down or needed a major overhaul. We keep to a strict maintenance schedule and replace wear and tear items regularly so even with over 800,000km on the clock, it still has the power to carry hundreds of kilograms over the mountain range with ease and still gives us fantastic fuel economy,” he added.

In congratulating Mr Cheah, Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Isuzu Malaysia’s Light Commercial Vehicle Division Mr Masayuki Suzuki thanked Mr Cheah and lauded him on his decision to purchase a dependable vehicle like the Isuzu D-Max.

“Having built some 25 million diesel engines over the years, Isuzu understands the needs of customers such as Mr Cheah who depend on our products to get them to their destination and back efficiently, safely and comfortably. When a customer places this kind of trust in your product, you have a duty to ensure that this trust is never misplaced,” said Mr Suzuki.
