D-MAX STORY
Making Relationships More Meaningful
Journeying Beyond Horizons: The Koh Family’s Adventures with the Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain
Eldrick Koh’s eyes twinkle with warmth and love as he watches his two children, Gent and Gemme, play in the yard. They’re the sun around which his universe orbits. Each day they add a new word, a fresh laugh, or a new curiosity, making him wish he could slow down time, to soak in every single second with them.
“My name is Eldrick Koh,” he says with a hint of pride, putting an arm around Gillian, his wife. They’ve weathered the storms of marriage for over a decade, always emerging stronger. “Remember the time,” he starts, nudging Gillian playfully, “when it was just the two of us? How we’d pack up and go wherever the wind took us, especially overseas?” Gillian laughs in agreement, reminiscing about their carefree travels.
The pandemic shifted their perspectives. Staying indoors, while keeping Gent and Gemme away from screens, became a challenge. It was during this time that Eldrick and Gillian began dreaming about camping trips. Local ones, of course, but no less exciting. Eldrick recalls his campervan adventures and how he’d love to relive them with his family. Malaysia, however, wasn’t the best place for campervans, both in terms of availability and finances.
That’s when the allure of the pick-up truck beckoned.
The Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain wasn’t just a choice; it felt like destiny. Gillian was the one behind the wheel during the test drive, with Eldrick lounging in the back. “It felt like luxury,” he reminisces. “That perfect balance between a workhorse and a leisure chariot.” Their eyes light up at the memory, the thrill of the powerful engine combined with the plush interior. Not to mention the Apple CarPlay, which they could sync their favorite tunes to, and the top-notch safety features ensuring their precious cargo was always protected.
But it wasn’t just about luxury. The Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain was a beast on challenging terrains. Rainy days and waterlogged outskirts? No problem with its 800mm water wading capability. “The confidence it gives me on rough roads is unparalleled,” Eldrick claims.
The family trips were transformative. New places, new experiences, and new friends at every turn. The children, especially, bloomed. More independent, more curious, more connected with the world around them. Eldrick believes these journeys have laid the foundation for the individuals they will become in the future.
“To the Isuzu D-Max X-Terrain, thank you,” Eldrick says, his voice full of gratitude. “You’ve given us memories, adventures, and a mobile home filled with laughter and love. We’re now always gearing up for the next road trip, and I can’t wait.”
And as the sun sets, casting a golden glow on the Koh family, the gleaming Isuzu stands beside them, ready for the next chapter of their adventure.
