The Isuzu Fun Ride 2024 attracted a record number of 730 cyclists to the event this year, almost doubling the number who participated in the inaugural event last year.
Organised by Isuzu’s Sabah dealer Universal Motors, the Fun Ride draws from the success of the event last year where participants had a truly enjoyable experience riding through some of the busiest streets of the city with the full support of marshals and outriders.
Flagging off the event together with Managing Director of Universal Motors Datuk Chok Yun Kiong and Isuzu Malaysia’s General Manager Ms Jennifer Tan was the Hon. Mayor of Kota Kinabalu Datuk Seri Dr Haji Sabin Samitah, the Political Secretary of Sabah’s Chief Minister Datuk Dr Roland Chia, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and MP of Sepanggar YB Datuk Mustapha Sakmud, State Assistant Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food Industries and State Assemblyman of Inanam YB Datuk Peto Galim, Sabah’s State Police representative Supt Wong Leong Meng, Cycling Association of Kota Kinabalu’s Vice-President Gilbert Wong, representatives from the Sabah Tourism Board Julinus Jeffrey Jimit and Cik Haryanty Abu Bakar.
This year’s fun ride event took on a new 45km route that cut through the heart of the city, passing such landmarks as Menara PPNS, Jesselton Point and the airport before returning to the Universal Motors main 3S Centre in Kalasanan via Jalan Lintas.
At the end of their ride, the cyclists returned to the Isuzu showroom for a wonderful breakfast and lucky draw where there were 40 fabulous prizes awaiting them.
