Kota Kinabalu, 26 July 2023 – The amazing Isuzu D-Max remains a top choice for pick-up trucks among Sabah motorists where one in three pick-up trucks sold in the state is of the third-generation Isuzu D-Max. Sales of the new Isuzu D-Max in the first half of 2023 continued on its growth trend, significantly achieving its highest market share in history of 32 percent to claim the No.2 position in the state.
Sabah remains the spiritual home of Isuzu pick-up trucks, being the state that topped the sales charts every year since Isuzu Malaysia commenced business in 2005. Chief Operating Officer of Isuzu Malaysia Kenkichi Sogo reasoned that Sabah’s unique terrain, lifestyle and the excellent characteristics of the Isuzu vehicles have all been contributing factors to Isuzu D-Max’s success.
“Sabah has played a significant role in Isuzu’s growth, particularly for our pick-up trucks. Since the era of the Isuzu Invader and Trooper, Isuzu products have ideally matched the desires and requirements of the people here. The unique landscape of the state that places a demand on high performance, dependable operation and stylish looks all point to the success of the D-Max in Sabah,” said Sogo.
With its generous amount of power and torque that easily overcomes the challenges of the mountainous Sabah terrain, the highly-versatile 1.9-litre 4×4 Auto Standard variant is the state’s best-selling model with 451 units sold in the first six months of this year. This model is clearly the fan favourite as it is also the top-selling variant nationwide since its introduction in 2021.
Sabah continues to lead among the states with a total of 1,415 units sold in the first half the year, growing by nearly 27 percent over the same period in 2022. Based on the strong current momentum, Isuzu Malaysia looks set exceed last year’s nationwide record of 9,211 units. “Our commitment towards elevating the experience for Sabah users continues with the active enhancement of our eight retail outlets in the state.
